Pueblo West vs Valor 4A Final Preview
When the Pueblo West Cyclones and Valor Christian Eagles tangle tonight in the Coors Events Center on the campus of the University of Colorado, one of the schools win it’s first 4A boys basketball title. Both teams like to get up and down the floor and are lead by some of the best juniors in the state.
Pueblo West Key Players
David Simental, Kenneth Tack, Nieyeme Smyer-Williams
Tack a 6’5 forward will have his work cut out for him dealing with Valors forwards none of which are shorter than 6’5.
Smyer-Williams will need to a safety valve for Simental and ready to knock down the open three’s.
Simental will of course need to take care of the ball, take good shots and force Valor to guard him. Don’t be surprised to see Valor zone the Cyclones. Therefore Simental will need to break down the zone by getting in the lane and hitting his open shooters.
Valor Christian Key Players
Jalen Sanders, Kayle Knuckles, Jeremy Randle
Sanders has been very good all year, his ball handling and guard abilities have improved tremendously. He will need to attack the basket in this one and get to the foul line much like in the comeback versus Longmont.
Knuckles will need to rule the paint. He has been efficient around the basket the entire year and will need to be the same tonight. Knuckles has also been a force rebounding the ball and will need to grab as many as he can to keep the Cyclones from easy put backs.
Randle is a solid guard that can hit the three pointer. He and the rest of the Eagles will need to be smart about taking their 3 pointers as the misses can lead to long rebounds and fast break opportunities for the Cyclones.
See you at 6:30 in Boulder.
