Power to Play Sports Breaks Ground
October 16, 2015
Windsor, CO – Just a couple of miles from I-25 on 4.7 acres of land just east of the Larimer County Fairgrounds, Colorado’s newest basketball facility is starting to take shape. “I don’t know if there is a better spot for us to do this project,” said Michael Peterson the Director and Founder of Power to Play Sports. Power to Play held a ground breaking ceremony Friday evening on a 52,000 sq. ft. facility that changes the game when it comes to multi-court facilities in Colorado and the Rocky Mountain region. “This is a new mile stone for us, not just for our company, Power to Play, but for northern Colorado “, said Peterson.
The facility which is expected to be open in the Spring of 2016 (March 20th)
will house six full size basketball courts and easily accommodate multiple volleyball courts in the future. Power to Play tournaments and leagues will be held in the new facility. The building will also be home to the Power to Play Sports Basketball Academy. The Director of the Academy is Marty Bertolette. “The Academy includes camps, clinics, private, semiprivate, group, team and seasonal series training,” said Bertolette.
The facility will also have 9,200 sq. ft. of indoor service area that can provide multiple uses such as concessions, meeting and lounge areas. It boasts six full screen TV’s. The first of its kind in Colorado, the build will have web cam technology that will simulcast video of all six courts which people can view tournaments, games and workouts via the internet.
Behind the state of the art building will be a 3000 sq. ft. outdoor patio lounge area that will look out on to the lake which will have a beach, sand volleyball courts, outdoor basketball courts and a playground.
A facility like this, with its location and easy access to other amenities will make the Power to Play a regional, if not national destination. Peterson said, “We have already established ourselves in a regional market where people four to six hours drive away and for 1-2 days they feel that comfort that they can come down and have a nice family destination quick get away. What this allows us to do, is take beautiful northern Colorado and turn it into a national brand. We currently bring teams in from about 9-10 states, we want every one of them to come here at one particular time and that is our goal.”
