Overland Vs Eaglecrest 5A Title Preview
Let’s play it again for a third time. Overland and Eaglecrest Centennial League Rivals will tangle for the state championship tonight at 8:30 at the Coors Events Center. The rivals spilt their two previous meetings with each team winning on the others home court. Overland has been playing very well since the late January loss to Grandview. Eaglecrest on the other hand, keeps rising to the level of their competition and the magnitude of the game.
Overland Key Players
DeRon Davis, Jervae Robinson, and Alijah Halliburton
Overland goes the way that Davis goes. He has been outstanding the in playoffs, scoring at will and being a menace on the defensive end. Davis will need to continue his excellent play and stay out of foul trouble.
Robinson has had an excellent senior season. Overland’s defense has been the reason why they have been so dominating lately and Robinson will need to hold down Ross.
Halliburton has unmatched athleticism, rebounding with intensity and finishing at the rim. If he brings his intensity it will be along day for the Raptors in the paint.
Eaglecrest Key Players
Colbey Ross and Ikenna Ozor
Ross will need to have a game like he did against Denver East earlier in the season. While the Raptors have been getting scoring from nearly everyone on their roster. For Eaglecrest to have a chance Ross can’t go 1/6 from the field. He will need to stay out of foul trouble as well.
Ozor has a tall task ahead of him. The secret to the Raptors success has been Ozor’s ability to be near prefect when in the paint on both ends of the floor. Which means he will have to go against Davis. If Ozor can get Davis in foul trouble then Ozor could have a good game.
Garnes, Forsberg, Jackson
These other Eaglecrest guards have had their moments this year and they will need have another one in this game. All three can impact the game with drives or shooting the 3 pointer but they can not afford to be sloppy with the ball as Overlands defense will be as stingy as ever.
