Mountain Vista v Monarch
The game started out close with both teams playing well. The second quarter got ugly and the rest of the game was a runaway win for Mountain Vista. They ended up winning by 15 but dominated the game even more than that.
Mountain Vista was clicking on all cylinders last night. They were tough on both ends of the floor. They shot the ball well, scored extremely well in transition and scored well in their half court sets. They were also very tough of defense. It was just an almost perfect game for them. Elijah Valdez was big and finished with 24 points. Mitch Carter and Jake Pemperton combined for 25. The rest of their role players had good moments as well. If Mountain Vista shoots the ball relatively well, I think they will make it to Boulder.
Monarch started strong but Jay MacIntyre picked up his third foul on a charge call at the 1st quarter buzzer and that changed their entire game. They struggled with him on the bench after that and once he came back, it was too late. Monarch did have some nice moments in the second half but it just wasn’t enough in the end. Ben Beauchamp finished with about 15 points and at least 10 rebounds and Jay MacIntyre finished with about 20 or so. This is going to be a very good team next year that should be ranked most of the year and challenge to make it to Boulder.
