Longmont v Discovery Canyon
The game started out with Longmont in control early only to see Discovery Canyon fight back and make it close. The teams took turns with the momentum but Longmont was always in the lead and Discovery Canyon couldn’t get over the hump. Longmont made their free throws down the stretch and ended up with a 53-42 win.
Longmont was led by junior Austin Kemp in the game. He was outstanding and finished with 29 points. He has improved and grown a ton this season and he is a solid prospect at this point. This team is also extremely young as they start two freshmen and have a few other freshmen who play major minutes. Freshmen Justinian Jessup in particular looked good in the game and has a chance to be a very good player. The win by Longmont means they now play D’Evelyn tonight in the Sweet Sixteen.
Discovery Canyon played well for the first three quarters. They have a nice group of seniors and are pretty balanced. Geo Fry had a solid game last night and Brandon Nachbar and Andy Stauffner also were solid at times. Tough loss last night but this team did win 17 games this season, which isn’t too shabby.
