Golden Shoots Past Sliver Creek

The Golden Demons shot lights out in the first quarter of the first round of the 4A State Playoffs to grab a 21-5 lead over the visiting Sliver Creek Raptors at the end of the 1st quarter.  The Demons were led by sophomore guard Adam Thistlewood with 26 points. The 6’5 guard had the hot hand all night especially in the the first quarter  canning three 3 pointers on his way to 11 points in the quarter carving up the Raptors zone defense.  Thistlewood scored five points at the beginning of the 2nd quarter that pushed the Demon lead to 20 and they never looked back. Golden stifled Sliver Creek on defense with a tough man to man defense and keeping the Raptors off the boards. The Raptors could not recover from the slow start even though using a full court press seemed to bother the Demons a bit. Senior Raptor guard Rhythm Ajanku scored a team high 15 points including a 3-pointer that cut the Demons led to under 20 at the end of the third quarter but  Golden answered at the beginning of the fourth with  a quick five points that ended any kind of comeback that may have been.
