It’s finally time for high school boys basketball games to get started after the Christmas break. Here are five games worth checking out on Saturday.

Rock Canyon (8-3)
Smoky Hill (2-5)
Rock Canyon is coming off a very successful Tark Classic in Vegas finishing 3rd in their bracket, where Tyler Garcia averaged 20 ppg including a 30 point games. Will the Jaguars be able to shake off the Christmas break rust against a typically hard nosed Smoky Hill team lead by scoring leader senior Dalantae Kelly.
Sat Jan 3 01:30
ThunderRidge (9 – 0)
Denver East (4 – 6)
Both ThunderRidge and Denver East played out in Vegas missing key pieces of their teams due to injuries. However both teams are expected to be at full strength when they tip off at the Thunderdome at Manual High School. Coach Carey and Coach Ortiz are the tops in Colorado coaching and their team always play each other tough. Will it be the bigs of ThunderRidge lead by Zach Pirog or East’s guard play lead by Brian Carey.
Sat Jan 3 02:00
Cherry Creek (6 – 1)
Rangeview (6 – 1)
Creek vs Rangeview could be the game of the day. Rangeview plays very fast and loose with great guard play led by senior stud wingman Jalen Davis. Creek has a size advantage in the post with 6’7 senior Jerome Lainer and 6’7 junior Hayden Parr who can shoot the 3 as well. Will Creek keep up or will Rangeview be able to hold its own in the post.
Sat Jan 3 05:00

Boulder (5 – 2)
Can the Boulder Panthers start off 2015 as 2014 end with wins over very solid Aurora teams. Can Chatfield can play with anyone in the state a shown in the 3 point loss to Mountain Vista and 3 point win over Palmer.

The Regis Raiders are ranked #1 in the state and has hasn’t been seriously challenged yet in the state except for the early going of the Overland game.
