DU Team Camp 2015
Outlook and Schedule – with the flooding of the Hamilton Gym game locations and times have been changed. Check here for the updated schedule
The University of Denver team camp usually marks the end of a busy June for a number of high school programs in the state. As usual a good number of the top teams and recruits will be at this camp while others are traveling out of the metro area for their final team camps.
Regis, ThunderRidge, Valor and Legend are slated to play in the camp along with Arvada West and Holy Family.
The camp gets off to a great start on Friday morning when ThunderRidge and Arvada West tip at 10:30 A.M. This could finally be the time for 3 point shooting virtuosos, Arvada West’s 2016 guard Luke Neff and ThunderRidge’s 2016 guard Troy Brady, to square of per se in a long range shooting contest.
Colorado Springs Christian and Arapahoe also in the 10:30 spot should be a good game as well.
The most intriguing game of the 11:25 games is Doherty vs Legend. Doherty guards 2016 Tynan Velasquez, 2017 Brevin Brimble and 2016 Dalven Brushier are some of the top guards in the Springs. Legends 2016 guards Riley Matticks, Monroe Porter, Danny Garrick, and Jared Small have been highly touted for awhile. Should be a very interesting game.
At 12:20 Ft. Collins and ThunderRidge square off. While it may not seem like a big match up with ThunderRidge having an obvious size and experience advantage with three forwards over 6’6, however it will be a good test for Ft. Collins 2017 forward Brian Read.
The 1:15 games have two that stand out. Arvada West vs Holy Family and Doherty vs Arapahoe. AWest is more than Luke Neff, 2016 wing Will Wittman is skilled inside and out. Holy Family with 2016 guard Chris Helbig and crew can hang with just about anyone in the state. Doherty has already been discussed but Arapahoe is one of those teams that are simply a team. Anyone of the Warriors can have a big game.
Yuma and Lutheran tip off at 2:10. Both teams have been very good in their respective leagues the past couple of years. It gives us a chance to see what Yuma has and Lutheran’s 6’5 wing Will Willis. Also at 2:10 Grandview vs. Ft. Collins play. Grandview pg 2017 LeChaun Duhart has had an excellent spring and summer so far.
Many thought that Rock Canyon would have a hard time replacing the scoring that graduated off last years team. However Isaac Hirsch and Payton Berman have risen to the occasion along with Noah Beck. It also helps that 2018 g Sam Masten is one of the best sophs in the state. Throw in 2017 guard Colin Rardin and thats a pretty solid squad. Rock Canyon plays Cherry Creek at 4:00. Valor also plays at 4:00 against Fairview. Valor is coming off a pretty good run at the Gold Crown tournament and with talent 2016 Khameron Davis and 2017 Jalen Sanders the Eagles can play with anyone.
Rampart will make the trip up from the Springs to play Rock Canyon at 6:00. Rampart will have a lot of size possibly this year could be the tallest team by average in the state. 6’7 2016 wing Kole Cerjan is one of their better players and the Rams are stocked with young talent.
Rampart has a quick turnaround to play Valor at 6:55 which should be a good game.
Will post the Sunday Tournament Schedule once the bracket is filled out.
