Basketball Colorado 5A Top10 – Week of Jan 29

There are no Top10 matchups this week but there are a few games with league championship implications. Add Vista Ridge to the list of Top10 contenders.
1. ThunderRidge 15-1, 4-0
Trap week for the Grizzlies? All three games this week are against teams with .500 records or below, and rival Mountain Vista looms next week. The Grizzlies need to guard against overlooking their opponents this week.
2. George Washington 16-2, 3-0
After dominating Lincoln and Denver South this week GW has five games left in the regular season. This week’s game is versus Kennedy.
3. Chatfield 16-1, 8-0
The one team that could stand in the way of Chatfield’s perfect Jeffco season is Lakewood. The Chargers take on the Tigers on Feb 1st. The Chargers have a two-game lead on the Tigers for the league championship. A win on Wednesday night all but guarantees another Jeffco title for the Chargers. Chatfield then plays A West on Friday.
4. Grandview 16-1, 7-1
The Wolves went 3-0 last week including solid wins over Cherry Creek and Smoky Hill. This week they look to pay back Arapahoe for their only loss of the season. Then face a tough Cherokee Trail team.
5. Rock Canyon 15-2, 4-0
Rock Canyon had an epic comeback against Mountain Visa on Saturday. The Jaguars take on an improving Douglas County team and then a tough young Chap team.
6. Eaglecrest 14-3, 7-1
After a tough three-game week that the Raptors went 3-0 in, they play Mullen and Arapahoe this week.
7. Doherty 13-3, 7-0
Doherty went 3-0 last week including two wins against Liberty. This week the Spartans face Coronado and Pine Creek.
8. Denver East 12-5, 3-0
East went 2-1 last week with a loss to #6 Eaglecrest and a solid victory over Montbello. North and Lincoln await this week.
9. Smoky Hill 11-6, 4-4
The Buffaloes are on a three-game losing skid. Things don’t get easier with Cherokee Trail and Overland this week.
10. Fort Collins 14-3, 6-0
The Lambkins haven’t lost in 2017 but were pushed by Fairview last week. This week the 1st place Lambkins face 2nd place Fossil Ridge ad Braxton Bertolette on Tuesday in a big Fort Collins area rivalry game. Then Fort Collins hosts Broomfield on Friday.
