Basketball Colorado 5A Top10 – Week of 12/26/17

This is our final 5A Top10 of 2017 and seeing how teams are on CHSAA mandated game hiatus this week, these probably wont change for the beginning of 2018.  The 2017 portion of the high school season had been filled with Top10 match ups and excitement.  Some teams have started to separate themselves from the pack. While the pack has a few teams that will be match up problems for the front runners.

1. Rock Canyon (9-0)

Idle last week

2. Smoky Hill (7-2)

Got a bit of a fight from Rangeview and then handled Vista Peak last week.

3. Denver East (9-1)

Angels went 3-1 in Vegas. Daylen Kountz and Kwane Marble getting it done.

4. Regis Jesuit (8-1)

Regis rolled over the comp last week.

5. Chaparral (8-2)

The Wolverines went 2-2 in Vegas last week.  The two games they lost came on the final play of the game. They showed a little bit of their inexperience but they now know what they need to fix.

6. ThunderRidge (10-1)

Grizzlies got themselves a win last week against Cherokee Trail.

7. Grandview (7-1)

The Wolves went 3-1 in Vegas and nearly went 4-0. While constructed a bit different the Wolves are playing like a Great Eight team.

8. George Washington (7-4)

The Patriots went2-2 in Vegas including a victory in a rematch game against Overland.  It looks like Xavier Cooper and Jo Nelson are getting more comfortable with their roles on GW.

9. Doherty (6-2)

Got the dub on Vista Ridge last week.

Tie 10. Rampart (5-2) / Mountain Vista (7-3)

The Rams were idle last week. Mountain Vista was soaring last week at Cherry Creek Holiday Classic, 3-0.
