Basketball Colorado 5A Top10 – January 21, 2018
The 5A league season continues to provide exciting moments and buzzer beaters just look at the finish that Daijon Smith gave Overland to beat Grandview and don’t forget Josh Rogers game winner for Arvada West. The action doesn’t slow down this week with games getting bigger and more important as some teams have eight or less games left in the regular season. A couple of teams have an argument for Top10 consideration like Highlands Ranch and Liberty but neither team have yet to beat a Top10 team and they will have their chances this week. Smoky Hill could be back in the Top!0 next week if they can beat Grandview.
1. Rock Canyon (15-0)
Rock Canyon got Regis’ best game of the year but still won. This week Hertiage and a rematch with Mountain Vista are on the schedule.
2. ThunderRidge (14-1)
The Grizzlies go on the road this week for match ups with Castle View and Legend.
3. George Washington (10-5)
The Patriots are getting into DPL play with games against Lincoln and Denver South.
4. Overland (8-7)
Overland is the hottest team in the state at the moment. They play Arapahoe and Top10 stopper Eaglecrest.
5. Grandview (12-3)
Lost to Overland on a last second shot last Wednesday. This week Grandview starts round two in the Centennial League with scrappy Mullen and host Smoky Hill on Friday.
6. Chaparral (13-3)
The Wolverines rolled last week in Continental League play. This week they get Highlands Ranch and Heritage.
7. Denver East (11-2)
The Angels took care business on the road in Nebraska last week. This week they have four games Eaglecrest, Kennedy, Thomas Jefferson, and Montbello (FNE).
8. Regis Jesuit (12-4)
Regis split their Top10 games last week losing to Rock Canyon and then beating Doherty. This week they will face a contender for the Top10 in Highlands Ranch.
9. Doherty (12-3)
Spartans face Fountain Ft. Carson and Liberty this week.
10. Eaglecrest (9-5)
Eaglecrest has beaten Grandview and Smoky Hill in league play. This week they get to prove they are a Top10 team with games against #7 Denver East, Cherokee Trail and #4 Overland.
