Basketball Colorado 4A Top10 – Week 5
1/2/17
Some questions are looming for the second half of the season in 4A and whose answers can only come on the court. First, can Pueblo West go undefeated? It will be a daunting task but the Cyclones are undefeated, and their best player David Simental has barely played due to injury. Second, can Sand Creek live up to their lofty expectations? The Scorpions have one of the most talented cores in 4A and very possibly could. Next, who will challenge Valor and Golden and where does Holy Family and Sierra fit into all of this? Or are Mead and Vista Peak the best teams that could end up in the Final Four that some aren’t talking about this season.
1. Pueblo West (7-0)
Rampart Tournament this week for the Cyclones and they start off with a Top10 3A Team Colorado Springs Christian and Justin Engesser. Basketball Colorado Player of the Year Candidates Engesser and Simental set to square off.
2. Sand Creek (7-1)
Three game week for the Scorpions Palmer tonight, Lewis-Palmer, and Air Academy later in the week. The first two games look to be spirited match-ups, and the third game could be a trap game for Sand Creek.
3. Valor Christian (5-3)
Big week for the Eagles. Valor travels to Mead on Tuesday then travels to Golden on Saturday in a top 5 showdown. Sanders and Sund match up will be fun. Kayle Knuckles might lead Valor in this one.
4. Vista Peak (8-1)
The Bison welcome in the Colts of Pueblo South on Friday should be the 4A game of the night. Biggest 4A game at VP in a long time.
5. Golden (7-1)
Wheat Ridge and then Valor for the Demons this week. Golden vs. Valor is a statement game for both teams. Thistlewood could be the difference in this one.
6. Mead (7-1)
Mead starts off 2017 with Valor and then Erie, what a way to start off the year.
7. Pueblo South (7-4)
The Colts take on the Bison in Aurora. The Colts love nothing more than coming up north and beating teams.
8. Sierra (4-3)
Big game with Widefield on Thursday all types of ramifications in this one. If TJ Davis is clicking in this game for the Gladiators and CJ Jennings is for the Stallions it could be a special game.
9. Holy Family (5-3)
The Pueblo schools were not kind to the Tigers before the break. Holy Family faces 5-1 Skyline to start the new year off.
10. Silver Creek (3-0)
Northridge and the Roughrider Shootout this week for the Raptors. Northridge should be an excellent test for the Raptors.
