2019 USA Men Junior National Team Minicamp Wrap Up – Guards

7/29/19

As expected all of the guards at the USA MJNT Minicamp are next level guards with outstanding skill and feel. Even though the guards at the camp are talented there was a few that stood out above the rest.

2020’s

Bryce Thompson 6’5 – Booker T. Washington (OK)

There wasn’t a better scorer at the camp. Thompson was aggressive and was continually in the lane in the games we saw. He showed excellent strength and balance in his finishing ability.

Daishen Nix 6’4 – Trinity International (NV)

Poise, confidence, and ability all rolled up into one package. He was a leader on the floor getting to the lane and finding the open man. He finished well when he got the basket and hit the outside shot. NIx was very hard to guard. Easy to see why he is a five star prospect.

Adam Miller 6’4 – Morgan Park (IL) – Miller showed a smoothness to his game that separated him from the others. He was efficient and impacted the games he was in without scoring. His passing and ability to get past his defender was on point. Miller also showed he could defend at a high level.

2021’s

Devin Askew 6’3 Mater Dei (CA) – One of the best guards of the entire camp. It is easy to see why he has the high major offers that he does. He showed an uncanny feel for the game and his ball handling was the simplest and best in the camp. He was able to create for his teammates or get the bucket when needed.

Kennedy Chandler 6’0 Braircrest (TN) – Chandler was great during the games we saw. He was dynamic with the ball and made all the right plays. He was one of the most consistent players in the camp.

2022’s

Richard Issacs Jr. 6’1 – Coronado (NV) – Issacs was great in the games we got to see. He hit a couple of three’s but what stood out was his poise, decision making, and how comfortable he was with the ball in his hands with pressure on him.

Skyy Clark 5’11 – Heritage Christian (CA) – Clark has some wiggle to his game which enabled him to get into the lane and find the open man. He was smart with the ball and limited turnovers.

Jalen Hood-Schifino – Northside Christian Academy (GA) – While solid with the ball and finishing around the rim it was his defense and effort doing the little things that made Hood-Schifino standout. He didn’t back down from a challenge on the defensive end of the floor .
